Looks like Sony Ericsson is planning on reviving its range of Walkman mobile phones as they recently announced the impending launch of the new Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman Android Smartphone.

Sony Ericsson has indirectly made it clear that this is no smartphone for video and gaming fanatics. With focus on its’ ever popular Walkman music jukebox + *Sony’s xLOUD™ technology, this is one mobile phone targeted at audiophiles and with the 1200mAh battery it comes with, they can expect as much as 17 hours of music playback time according to the PR release.

Features expected to ship with the new mobile device includes:

  1. Quad-band 2G, Tri-band 3G (with HSPA)
  2. 1GHz processor with 320MB of RAM
  3. Android Gingerbread OS with Sony Ericsson’s four-corner UI customization.
  4. 3.2 inch, 480 x 320 pixels capacitive touchscreen with HVGA resolution and scratch-resistant coating
  5. 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording capability. 8x digital zoom, Auto focus, Face detection, Flash/Photo light-Photo flash-LED and Front-facing camera (VGA) included.

A dedicated Walkman™ hardware button provides instant access to the music player and consumers can also like, share and discover content through a deep Facebook™ integration. The infinite button lets the consumer explore even more and the *Qriocity service from Sony provides music and video content for the consumer to enjoy.

With attractive curved design, a glossy finish and a mineral glass display, the phone has a 3.2" screen and a powerful 1Ghz processor. A front facing camera is enabled for Skype video calling, while a 5MP AF camera can capture 720p HD video recording. *Sony’s xLOUD™ enhances audio output, while the latest Android platform for smartphones (Gingerbread 2.3) provides access to over 250,000 applications on the Android Market™.
