Dark Mode has been released to Instagram apps running Android 10 and iOS 13 but it’s yet to be activated on Instagram Lite and as fate would have it Instagram Lite has been shut down and withdrawn from the Google Play Store.
This guide will show you how to reinstall Instagram Lite on your android phone using the Google Chrome browser after which you’d then activate dark mode for IG Lite.
Simply log into your Instagram account on your Google Chrome Web Browser. Once you’re logged in, you will get a notification asking you to Add Instagram to your home screen, select the option to add the shortcut then wait for the installation to complete.
By default, it will run in “white mode”. To activate dark mode, go to Google Chrome and type in chrome://flags. Type darken to reveal the option “Darken websites checkbox in themes setting“. Enable it and then relaunch Google Chrome.
Go to Settings >> Themes >> Select Darken websites
Launch Instagram Lite once again and it should now be running in dark mode.
