Have you ever tried downloading a large file of say 5MB on your BlackBerry device only to get a download failed error half way through?
Well we all are in the same shoes.
According to my network provider’s customer care team, RIM servers have a download cap which does not allow the download of files larger than 4.8MB. Funny enough, they do allow the download of mp3 files larger than 5MB. Strange no?
BlackBerry geeks say the download cap has been removed in the new OS Version 6 which is only available to select networks and phones. Relentlessly I’ve searched for a way out and buried deep within the BlackBerry Forums, I found a solution that works for real.
If you’re ready, here’s how to download large files of up to 70MB on your BlackBerry Device using a simple. easy to use Versatile Monkey Application

The application in question is none other than PodTrapper and it goes for $10 only though you are allowed to enjoy it for FREE for 30 days .
The app is quite easy to set up as you are about to witness below:
STEP 1: Download and Install PodTrapper via your Blackberry Browser or BlackBerry App World.
STEP 2: Launch the application, click on Menu and then Add A podcast as shown below. The app will not work UNTIL a podcast has been added to it.
Select Enter Feed URLs manually
Enter any RSS feed of your choice
Save and Exit
To begin downloading any file of your choice, click on Menu then Download File
Enter the Direct Download URL of what you want to download and then click on Download
Choose a directory to save your download to and then click on Select
You’ll get a notification that your download has started. To view your downloads, click on Menu then View Downloads
Well folks that’s all there is to it. Let’s just hope that BlackBerry doesn’t go crazy on us and put a stop to the PodTrapper
If you’ve got any questions, feel free to ask and I’ll try to respond as well as I can.

I followed the steps but when I tried downloading a movie on it, its just showed the capacity of the movie as if its downloading but nothing. I’m using bb tour 9630 verison. Thanks
It could be the server of the site you’re trying to download from. I suggest you use UC Browser for BlackBerry ’cause if you can’t set up Podtrapper well, it will use up your credit :(
Hey dis software s awe sum thmx dude

Yes it can be configured to use BIS, Wireless or WAP connection but you’re advised to set it to BIS only.

I don’t have the alx file. Sorry
I use an 8520 blackberry….and I didn’t mean that the link to the site isn’t working I meant the direct download link after having found the matching ucweb browser doesn’t work…..
The site has refused to open on my end again. I think the site may be experiencing temporary issues :(
It keeps popping up some error even till now….there isn’t a way to post a screen grabbed pic….wouldn have put up the pic of what it shows
What kind of phone are using? You must use the native browser of your phone. I’ve just tried that address on a simple Samsung C3212 and it works just fine.
The link for the ucweb you gave above still doesn’t work from the mobile browser….and the version I got off my app world isn’t an English version so can hardly get by it
Try it again. http://wap.ucweb.com. It’s even working for me here on PC and phone
can u download movies with it
Yes you can but I highly suggest you get this free option: https://www.patchworkoftips.com/blackberry-web-browser-download-manager/663/
i tried all my best to download a movie from moviesmobile.net but it woudnt download
Try UC Browser
i cant download it,if i try it will tell me internal error 500,i just dont know why
Go to http://wap.ucweb.com. It’s working fine even on my laptop
Hi, nice work being done here.
Recently, I noticed that I can now download large files directly to my blackberry. I download files as large as 60MB without hassles.
So I guess whatever download cap was placed has been removed.
Just thought you should know.
Ciao.
Please what kind of file did you just download? Which OS is your blackberry using? I can only download mp3 , mp4 and 3gb without download cap thus the reason I use Podtrapper for other kinds of files
