Kose Suncut UV Perfect Gel SPF50+ PA++++ Review – Super Water Proof

𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆: I’m on 0.1% Retin-A so when I say that a product leaves a stinging or burning sensation on my skin, the retin-A might be to blame.

So far so good, this is the most impressive sunscreen I’ve used till date and is now my current daily driver for that matte finish look.

EDIT 02:08 – I meant to say “𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗮𝗽?”

Months back, I decided to give Asian sunscreens another go and so settled for the Kose SUNCUT UV Perfect Gel SPF 50+ sunscreen after watching @skyncareng rave about the Kose SUNCUT UV Perfect Essence SPF 50+. I went with the gel formula as I needed the best matte effect available.

The features of this sunscreen are entirely in Japanese so I’ll be reading them off the official website.

With an SPF 50+ and PA 4 plus rating, it offers ultimate UV protection.

It’s long-acting stretch fit super adherent formulation gives it an outstanding resistance to sweat, water, sebum and friction. It can even be applied directly to wet skin after sweating or swimming in the ocean or a pool.

It helps protect the skin for environmental stressors such as pollen, dust and dirt. It can be used as a makeup base and is easily removed with just soap.

It further claims to be good enough to serve as a sports sunscreen.

As far as ingredients go, it’s main UV filters are Octinoxate, Polysilicone-15, Uvinul A Plus and Tinosorb S. There are quite a number of plant extracts on board offering antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

It’s gel like texture blends into the skin pretty fast leaving a non-greasy zero white cast finish but you need to be quick in spreading it out on the skin as it dries fast and becomes difficult to move around. Personally I smooth it all over my face and then tap it in for full absorption. Unfortunately on reapplication, it does leave residue in creases and it makes the eyes water so avoid the eye area by all means. It also makes my beard and eye brows feel like they have styling gel on.

For some reason this sunscreen tingles/stings only when I spend a considerable amount of time outdoors and start to sweat. At this rate I might just start avoiding all skincare with plant extracts which I stay suspecting!

Now, Remember how they claim this sunscreen is easy to wash off with just water? Well guys…….

I tried washing it off with my Dove Beauty Bar and it did not budge at all. I had to do an oil cleanse before it moved so take note of that.

If you don’t like alcohol in your skin care, this is not the sunscreen for you as it’s the second ingredient in the formulation. It took me weeks to finally notice the smell of the alcohol though other people notice it right away.

The adherent nature of the sunscreen has me hooked and I have two more bottles on the way as backup. It cost me $14.90 via YesStyle but I got my first 2 bottles through @evebeautique. This sunscreen will serve as my daily driver for days when I’m not exposed directly to the sun
