My Experience With MTN TalkOn and HappyLink Bundle

Talkless On MTN with MTN TalkOn and HappyLink Bundle

About a week ago, I was gisting with a  couple of friends when the topic of MTN and free N1,000 credit came up. Apparently by mere recharging your line with a N400 voucher and texting the word HAPPY to 131, MTN would automatically credit your account with a whooping N1,000 worth of free credit.

Skeptical as I was, the "too much money" syndrome set in and I gave it a try only for MTN to deduct N400 from my account balance and subscribe me to the HappyLink Bundle.

According to MTN, the main benefit of the MTN HappyLink Bundle is that you pay a lower price for the collection of services than if you had purchased each of the services separately. This means significant savings for you and of course, greater value for your money!

Partially disappointed in the outcome, I resigned to my fate to make the best of the 22 MTN-to-MTN minutes and 30 MTN-to-MTN SMS that was allocated to me for the next 30 days and then the fun started Winking smile.

I checked my balance prior to making my first MTN-to-MTN call and my balance was 1320 seconds and 30 SMS. Four minutes and 42 seconds later my bundle’s call balance was down to 1147 seconds. For a call of 282 seconds only 173 seconds was deducted from my balance.

I decided to study the pattern and then noticed that every first 60 seconds call of day was charged normally while subsequent calls were charged for less.

For the entire duration of my MTN bundle, I talked for 2300 seconds which by simple calculation is 980 seconds ( over 16 minutes) worth of FREE CALLS meaning that I got 38 minutes of MTN-to-MTN calls  plus 30 MTN-to-MTN SMS for N400.

I can’t say for sure if this is a fluke in MTN’s servers but boy am I looking forward to next month when I can re-subscribe for that bundle again. Who no like cheap thing? lol

If you are interested in simulating my experience, you must migrate to MTN TalkOn plan after which you’d load N400 and then text Happy to 131 and wait for the confirmatory text.

To check your MTN Bundle balance, dial *559# and to check the expiry date of your bundle text 403 to 131.

Best of luck guys as you try to enjoy MTN well well Winking smile.
